5 Tips to Take Your Packages to the Next Level

It's almost here! Christmas is only a little over a week away. I can't believe it. Time seems to be flying this month.

Today I wanted to share my favorite ways to decorate packages for the holiday season. We all know that it's what is on the inside of the package that matters, but isn't it refreshing and nostalgic to open a beautifully wrapped present? It's always extra special knowing a little more effort was put into sharing the beauty of the season.

Add greens or treasures from nature to your packages -

You probably saw this one coming, but it's true. Just a tiny bit of Holly or White Pine can take your package from ordinary to something special. Pinecones, Birch bark, and Bittersweet are all additions I used for my Christmas package photoshoot.

Use newspaper, sheet music, or old pages from a book -

This is a very affordable way to wrap presents. I will say, I usually keep this trick for smaller gifts since piecing pages together for a large package can be difficult. Add a little twine and you'll have a cute and cozy package ready for Christmas day.

Invest in seasonal accessories -

Add small ornaments, cute ribbons, and gift tags to your packages. I like to keep my eyes open for Christmas goodies at thrift stores and yard sales to help jazz things up. The package in the photo below is actually wrapped in a simple grocery store brown bag. With some Christmas colored ribbon and two vintage ornaments, it was easily transformed into a photo worthy package.

"Brown paper packages tied up with strings, these are a few of my favorite things..."

Don't be afraid of scraps -

The packages in this photo were wrapped in recycled materials. Tiny strips of wrapping paper, tissue paper, or string make packages unique and interesting. Grandma always said "waste not, want not." Turns out there is something to that!

Think outside the box -

No, literally... sometimes our gifts don't fit nicely into boxes. In that case, it's time to get creative. Try using fabric or cloth bags. I wrapped an odd shaped vase for my sister in the sleeve of an old Christmas sweater. The sweater got a second purpose and I didn't have to go buy a fancy giftbag. I think it was a win-win situation.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope you are enjoying the beauty of the season and are inspired to create your own beauty. Leave me a comment and let me know which package is your favorite and how you're planning make your gifts extra special this year.

Merry Christmas,

Abby
